2 Peter

The apostle Peter writes to believers, emphasizing the importance of adding virtues to their faith to participate in the divine nature and escape worldly corruption. He warns of false prophets and teachers who will introduce destructive heresies, denying the Lord and bringing destruction on themselves, and reminds believers of God's history of punishing the unrighteous. Peter also encourages believers to recall the words of the prophets and the command of the Lord, warning of scoffers who will deny the Lord's return in the last days. He urges believers to live holy and godly lives, grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, and be on guard against the error of lawless men as they look forward to the day of God when the heavens and earth will be destroyed and a new heaven and a new earth will be created.
