Jonah

God instructed Jonah to go to Nineveh and call out against its evil, but Jonah attempted to flee, resulting in a great storm that subsided only after he was thrown into the sea and swallowed by a fish. From inside the fish, Jonah prayed to God, acknowledging His power and vowing to make a sacrifice of thanksgiving. After being vomited out by the fish, Jonah obeyed God's second command and preached against Nineveh, warning its inhabitants of impending doom. The people of Nineveh repented, and God relented from the disaster, but Jonah was angry that the city was spared, and he prayed for death. God questioned Jonah's anger, using a withered plant as an example to illustrate His pity for the people of Nineveh, who were ignorant of their ways.
