Amos
The Lord announces judgment on various nations, including Damascus, Gaza, Tyre, Edom, and Ammon, for their brutal treatment of others and disregard for God's laws. He also condemns Israel and Judah for their sins, including selling the righteous for silver, denying justice to the oppressed, and following false gods. The Lord reminds Israel of His past deliverance and provision, but warns that they will be crushed as a result of their rejection of God's messengers. The wealthy and powerful in Israel are condemned for their oppression of the poor and sinful ways, and the Lord declares that He will bring destruction upon them. The people's religious rituals are meaningless to God, who desires justice and righteousness instead. The Lord shows Amos visions of destruction and announces judgment on Israel, but also promises to restore David's fallen tent and rebuild the ruined cities, bringing about a time of prosperity and abundance for the Israelites.
