Luke

Jesus' birth was announced by the angel Gabriel to Mary, a virgin, and to Zechariah, a priest, whose wife Elizabeth would bear John the Baptist. Jesus was born in Bethlehem, and after his circumcision and presentation at the temple, he grew in wisdom and understanding. John the Baptist preached a baptism of repentance, and Jesus was baptized by John, after which the Holy Spirit descended on him. Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, then began teaching in the synagogues, and performed many miracles, including healing a man with leprosy, a paralyzed man, and raising a widow's son from the dead. Jesus chose twelve apostles and delivered a sermon, teaching about humility, love, and forgiveness. He also taught his disciples how to pray, using the Lord's Prayer as an example, and emphasized the importance of persistence and faith in prayer. Jesus warned against the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and told many parables, including the parable of the prodigal son, to illustrate God's joy in receiving sinners who repent. Jesus predicted his death and resurrection, and after his final journey to Jerusalem, he was arrested, tried, and crucified. However, on the third day, Jesus rose from the dead, appearing to his followers and commissioning them to proclaim repentance and forgiveness to all nations.
