Job
Job, a righteous and wealthy man, is tested by Satan, who claims that Job only fears God because of his blessings. God allows Satan to take away Job's possessions and children, but Job still worships God. Satan then afflicts Job with painful sores, and Job's friends come to comfort him, but they ultimately accuse him of sinning and deserving his suffering. Job maintains his innocence and questions God's actions, while his friends continue to offer empty comfort and false answers. Eventually, a young man named Elihu intervenes, criticizing Job's friends and explaining that God speaks to people in various ways, including through suffering, to turn them away from sin. God then responds to Job, questioning his understanding and knowledge of the universe and creation, and emphasizing His power and wisdom. Job humbly repents for speaking without understanding, and God restores his fortunes and rebukes his friends for not speaking correctly about Him.
