Esther
King Ahasuerus held a grand feast, but his wife Queen Vashti refused to appear before him, leading to her banishment and the search for a new queen. Esther, a Jewish woman, was chosen as the new queen, but kept her heritage a secret. Meanwhile, Haman, a high-ranking official, sought to destroy the Jews, including Mordecai, who refused to bow to him. Haman convinced the king to issue a decree to destroy all Jews in the kingdom, but Esther, with Mordecai's urging, intervened and eventually exposed Haman's plot to the king. Haman was hanged, and the king allowed Esther to issue a new edict, permitting the Jews to defend themselves against their enemies. The Jews successfully defended themselves, killing many of their enemies, and the events led to the establishment of the holiday of Purim.
