Ruth
Elimelech, a man from Bethlehem, moved to Moab with his wife Naomi and their two sons due to a famine in Judah, but after his death and the death of their sons, Naomi returned to Judah with her daughter-in-law Ruth. Ruth, a Moabitess, went to glean grain in the fields of Boaz, a relative of her late husband's family, and he showed her kindness and protection. Naomi recognized Boaz as a potential kinsman-redeemer and instructed Ruth to approach him, which led to Boaz agreeing to help Ruth, but first needing to give a nearer kinsman-redeemer the opportunity to redeem her. When the kinsman-redeemer declined, Boaz bought Naomi's land and married Ruth, and they had a son named Obed, who was cared for by Naomi and would become the father of Jesse and the grandfather of David.
