Numbers

The book of Numbers begins with the Israelites taking a census and preparing to enter the Promised Land, but they rebel against Moses and Aaron, leading to God's anger and a 40-year delay in their journey. During this time, the Israelites are given various laws and instructions, including those regarding the Levites, the tabernacle, and the priesthood. The Israelites also encounter various challenges and enemies, including the Canaanites, the Amalekites, and the Midianites, and they are instructed to take vengeance on the Midianites for leading them astray. The book also includes the story of Balaam, a prophet who is hired to curse the Israelites but instead blesses them, and the story of Moses' disobedience at the waters of Meribah, which prevents him from entering the Promised Land. The book concludes with the Israelites preparing to enter the Promised Land, with Joshua as their new leader, and the Lord defining the boundaries of the land and appointing leaders to oversee its assignment.
