Colossians

The book of Colossians begins with Paul and Timothy greeting the Colossian believers, expressing gratitude for their faith and love, and praying for their spiritual growth. Paul describes Jesus as the image of God and the head of the church, and explains his own role as a servant of the church, proclaiming the mystery of Christ. The writer warns against deception by false philosophies and encourages the believers to continue living in Christ, strengthened in their faith and thankful. He explains that through Christ, they have been given fullness and forgiven of their sins, and cautions against submitting to human rules and regulations. The believers are instructed to focus on heavenly things, put to death their earthly nature, and live out their faith in their relationships, doing everything in the name of the Lord Jesus. The book concludes with instructions for masters to treat their slaves fairly, encouragement to devote themselves to prayer, and greetings from fellow workers and friends.
