Galatians

22But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.23But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.24Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.25But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.29And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

Luke

27And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.28But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

Sermon

In today's readings, we are reminded of the transformative power of faith and the unity it brings. The first reading from Galatians 3:22-29 explains that before the advent of faith, the law served as a guardian. However, with the arrival of faith in Christ, we are no longer confined by the law. Through baptism, we clothe ourselves in Christ, erasing distinctions of race, social status, or gender, making us one in Him. This unity is a testament to the boundless grace of God, who sees beyond earthly divisions to embrace all in His love. The Gospel from Luke 11:27-28 shifts our focus to the true source of blessings. When a woman praises Mary, Jesus redirects her attention to the spiritual realm, emphasizing that true blessedness comes from hearing and keeping God's word. This teaches us that our relationship with God is not about physical ties or outward appearances, but about our commitment to living according to His teachings. In our daily lives, these readings invite us to reflect on our priorities. Let us seek to deepen our faith and live in unity with others, recognizing that our true identity is in Christ. May we strive to keep God's word in our hearts and actions, for it is through this spiritual obedience that we find true blessings and live as one body in Christ.
