2 Chronicles
The book of 2 Chronicles covers the history of Judah from the reign of Solomon to the Babylonian exile. Solomon established himself as king and built the temple in Jerusalem, but after his death, the kingdom was divided, with Judah in the south and Israel in the north. The kings of Judah who followed Solomon were a mix of good and bad, with some, like Asa, Jehoshaphat, and Hezekiah, doing what was right in the eyes of the Lord, while others, like Rehoboam, Ahaz, and Manasseh, did evil. The book highlights the importance of following the Lord and keeping His commandments, as those who did so prospered, while those who did not faced punishment and ultimately, the destruction of Jerusalem and the exile of its people to Babylon.
