1 Corinthians
The Corinthian church is addressed by Paul, who expresses gratitude for their spiritual gifts but also addresses divisions and immaturity among them. He emphasizes the power of the cross and the importance of unity in Christ, warning against worldly wisdom and boasting. Paul also discusses the role of servants of God, the foundation of faith in Jesus Christ, and the need for believers to be careful how they build upon it. He warns against tolerating immorality, emphasizes the importance of resolving disputes among themselves, and discusses marriage, food offered to idols, and the Lord's Supper. Paul also defends his right to financial support, compares his ministry to athletic competition, and emphasizes the importance of love, spiritual gifts, and orderly worship. He concludes by discussing the gospel, the resurrection of Christ, and the importance of faith, hope, and love, and provides instructions for a collection for the saints and sends greetings from various churches and individuals.
